Your monthly numbers as a 20-second video

A repeatable recap for building in public or investor updates: one structure, new numbers every month.

If you build in public or send investors a monthly update, you know the format: a dashboard screenshot and three bullets. People scroll past it. Twenty seconds of the same numbers, counted up and charted, get watched. And next month it's the same video with new data.

The 20-second structure

  1. The month and one headline number. One. The thing you'd say first if someone asked how it went.
  2. Two or three supporting metrics, one chart at a time.
  3. The moment of the month: what you shipped, a customer, a milestone.
  4. Next month's goal.

Give the agent the data

Paste the numbers right into the message as a small table or CSV text. The numbers below are an example; use yours.

month,downloads,stars,releases
Aug,310,120,3
Sep,780,410,4
Oct,1240,690,2

A 20-second October recap, 16:9. Lead with October downloads. Then a line chart of downloads across the three months, then stars. Then "Shipped: v1.0". End on next month's goal: 2,000 downloads.

Make numbers readable

Animated numbers fail in the same ways every time. Put these rules in your prompt, or fix them with notes:

  • Let a number rest after it counts up. A counter still moving when the scene cuts was never read.
  • One chart at a time. Two moving charts means nobody reads either.
  • Labels after the movement. A label that arrives while the bars are still growing competes with them.
  • Round. 1,240 reads. 1,237.4 doesn't.

Before finishing, the agent runs a design check that catches clipped and overlapping text. Reading time is yours to judge: watch the video once at full speed, without pausing.

Next month

Save the counter, the chart and the end card as components. Next month it's a new video in the same project, a new table, and "use our counter, chart and end card".

Where it goes

X and LinkedIn if you build in public. For investor updates, attach the mp4 or put a GIF in the email body.
